Maria Madre de la Iglesia

The current social situation of local farmers and native people in the area of Villavicencio is extremely complex, due primarily to their forced displacement by guerilla groups involved with the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) and it’s paramilitary allies in the area surrounding the parish. More than 60 families are living in the poorest conditions devoid of basic human needs. These families have settled on abandoned farms and some are living on the banks of a local river.

As a parish, Maria Madre de la Iglesia, has adopted this community as a mission from the Lord. On a monthly basis they provide these families with groceries, clothing, medicine, and anything else they need to survive the harsh conditions they live in. The families are comprised of elderly people, children, and people suffering from various disabilities. On special occasions such as Christmas they give even more and provide the children with gifts.

Blake-Cliff Stables has chosen the parish of Maria Madre de la Iglesia as the charity it will support this year. We are encouraging our clients to contribute what they can to this cause. We thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you on the farm soon!
